Client

Ingram is one of the biggest book distribution companies in the U.S. Their publishing program, IngramSpark, provides POD book production and distribution solutions.

Challenge

IngramSpark did not have a service for a target market who could not hire a designer to create their book covers and interior content.

Scope

Design a web app that provided the function for a user to build their own book in three main sections for building a book: 1) A screen for manufacturing choices; 2) An interior text section where content can be imported/written, designed, and exported; 3) A cover section where covers can be designed and exported.

Role

• Almost 5 years as sole UI/UX Designer, involved in every aspect of design: Design sprints with stakeholder and devs, mockup and prototype creation, spec handoff to devs, HTML cleanup and CSS styling to match mockups, QA testing before and after deployments.
• Over a year and half as Product Owner: Leading standups, managing product backlog, working with stakeholder to prioritize projects and plan sprints.

Result

Product is an integral part of the Spark platform. Since the release in May 2020, it has shown month-over-month increase in users from target market group with over 70,000 units sold.
